OLE KNUTSEN JANGAARD (1730-1798), born in Ytter Skodje in the year 1730, leased the Jangarn in 1772. The same year he married Berte Olsdatter Mauseidvaag and they took over the old site on Valderøy.

KNUT OLSEN JANGAARD (1775-1803), their son was born on Jangarn 29/1 1775. He took his pilot certificate in 1795, 20 years of age. He took over Jangarn in 1797 as his father was in bad health and died the year after. Knut married in 1798 Dortea Olsdatter Giskegjærde, born in 1772, and with Dortea the first link with families from the well known island of Giske was established. Knut perished at sea on duty as pilot in the year 1803. Dortea remarried Peder Hansen Husø, who took the name of Jangaard.

PEDER HANSEN JANGAARD (1767-1848),played an important role in the coming period of rapid evolution on Valderøy. In this period the small place of Aalesund started its ambitious march towards being the main trading center, and had requested to get township-status. The Norwegian Storting (Parliament) decided to recognize this application an appointed a legal court of 5 members to determine the boundaries of the new township. Peder Jangaard was appointed member of this court by the Government. According to "Aalesunds Historie" (The history of Aalesund) the members of this court was men of the highest position and reputation, wherefore we must presume that Peder Jangaard was holding such a position in the district.

Aalesund continued to establish itself as the main center and obtained in 1848 full right and privileges as town.

As a consequence of this evolution the local center of Valderhaugstrand as well as other similar centers in the district lost their importance as centers. On the other hand the whole island of Valderøy went through a rapid expansion, with doubling and redoubling of its population as a result of the close situation near the steadily growing Aalesund.

OLE MIKAL JANGAARD (1811-1897) was the son of Dortea and Peder, and continued as farmer on Jangarn and as pilot. He was married in 1833 to Synnøve Knutsdatter from Aalesund, born in 1803. She died young (1837) and they had no children. Ole married in 1840 Johanne Knutsdatter Dimmesund from Ulsteinvik (1809-1891). They had no sons but their daughter Synnøve, (1842-1920) was married to Kristian Nilsen from Giske who took over the farm and the name.
